LA FIESTA DEL SEÑOR SANTIAGO APÓSTOL

Santiago Juxtlahuaca, Oaxaca, 27 de julio de 2022.En la comunidad de El Rastrojo celebran la fiesta del Santo Patrón Santiago Apóstol, la noche de los días 23 y 24 de julio comienzan los festejos.
La noche del 24 toca un grupo musical, hay banda de viento y quema de juegos pirotécnicos; el día 25 es la mayordomía, tras participar en una peregrinación y misa en honor al Santo patrón Santiago Apóstol se comparten los alimentos, dónde generalmente se consume: caldo de res, refresco y cerveza, lo tradicional en la mayordomía con los diputados, son los 7 platos de res con tres trozos grandes de carne, con caldo espeso y con sus 7 tortillas extra grandes para el mayordomo del próximo año, lo más importante de esta fiesta es la entrega del dinero que recaudo el santo durante el transcurso del año, para esto el mayordomo tiene que compartir y convivir con sus diputados y posteriormente pase de tasa de tepache tres veces y cigarros.
Se baila y bebe con la caja del Santo Patrón de Santiago Apóstol, todo ello acompañado de bandas de música integradas por jóvenes y niños; actualmente las niñas también están participando con la banda de viento.
Después se llevan la caja del Santo Patrón Santiago a la casa del nuevo mayordomo. Continúan bailando y bebiendo, el mayordomo saliente baila detrás de la caja y el nuevo con sus diputados delante de la caja, por último colocan la caja dentro de la casa y no debe moverse hasta el próximo año.
La gente le tiene mucha fé a este Santo, pues fue uno de los apóstoles que defendió a los indefensos contra los malandrines.
Santiago de Zebedeo también llamado Santiago el Mayor, fue uno de los 12 apóstoles elegidos por Jesús, uno de los más cercanos y el más valiente, atrevido e impetuoso que lucho por varias batallas y caracterizado históricamente en su corcel blanco, fue asesinado y decapitado en el año 42 por órdenes del Rey de Judea.
